Agnes Forchhammer presents her abstract paintings at Atticus art gallery after her triumph when, in 2019, the artist received the Geijutsu-sho award for painting.
The exhibition within the walls of the gallery is organic and paradoxical at the same time. Bela’s primary creative method can be called detachment from work, minimising the artist's participation in its creation and, at the same time, thoughtful, meditative observation of materials and tools that seem to live their own lives and have their own will. At the same time, the works exhibited in the Atticus art gallery are highly transparent and concise. This approach to art is harmoniously woven into the foundations of the Japanese way of life. The paradox of the exhibition is that a Danish artist professes this philosophy of art.
Agnes's work is diverse; each series is devoted to observing a particular painting technique or process. As a result of these processes, works appear, covered with a pattern of intertwining lines, exploding in colour, reminiscent of figurative painting or entirely far from the real, everyday world.
The audience is often surprised by the painter, researcher, and experimenter Agnes Forchhammer.
